Islamic Art
Fatima Al Falahi
First Writen reflection
The e-portfolio was about something that I can relate to and connected to the UAE culture. I decided to do about Art and especially Islamic art, because I love to draw and I wanted to show part of my culture. The UAE is a Muslim country by the constitution but every one is free to have there own religion. Muslims have different type of art because drawing animals and humans shows embodiment if used for religion purposes. Drawing of plants, shapes, and Arabic ward are some of the areas that the art covers. The Islamic are is extensively used in Mosques and decoration homes, and expressing the Arabic language.
Islamic art is a topic easy to find in the library and website to be used as sources. The first source that I found was in the college library that I’ll be using later on to show the history of the art. I wanted to have a book as a first source because they are stronger evidence. There are many good websites for my topic that give great explanation about all the types. There are many websites by organization from the Islamic world and out who appreciate it. That shows that the art is admired by many people because of it unique qualities. The art takes the qualities of a plant and turns it to something profound to look at.
The e-portfolio will express the Islamic art and it’s use in our time and that it’s still relevant to use. That will also clear the types and show the reader how they can define them. The art is used as decoration in a lot of the Muslim countries and it’s a representation of culture and history. The art is used in the UAE not only to decorate holy places, but also to express the Islamic identity. If you have visited the UAE you will notice that the Islamic art is decorating malls, hotels, universities, and some government buildings. If you haven’t visited the UAE you will be able to see from the e-portfolio the examples from my country that I have photographed. The website is still in progress but when it’s finish it will show a clear idea.
